Day 1: DISCOVER MONEMVASIA & THE PELOPONNESE UNESCO SITES

Mycenae

After leaving Athens our first main stop in the Peloponnese explores the beautifully preserved remains of Mycenae, one of the most important sites in the development of Ancient Greece. Home to the citadel of the legendary Agamemnon, leader of the Greeks during the Trojan War. The ‘Mycenaean period,’ from 1600 to 1100 BC, references this ancient city, indicating its importance in Greek civilization. Pass through the 20-foot-wide city walls, enter the Lion’s Gate to Agamemnon’s throne room, and explore the very buildings of his palace. You will also have a short sopt nearby for the awe inspiring treasury of Atreus and ample time to visit the modern on-site museum housing the many precious artefacts uncovered from the site.
The Ancient Theatre of Epidaurus

Our next stop is at the UNESCO-listed Sanctuary of Asklepios, first healing centre of the Ancient World. You will also see the impressive Theatre of Epidaurus, one of the most visited ancient sites in Greece. The temple and theatre date from the 4th century and feature masterpieces of classical Greek architecture. Join the other visitors who test its world famous acoustics with a poem or a song !

Day 2: MONEMVASIA MYSTRAS & VATHIA

After breakfast we head to north to visit the 800 year old ruins of the Medieval city & UNESCO site of Mystras, once seat of Byzantine power in the region & replete with palaces, residences, mansions, churches and monasteries, water & drainage works, commercial workshops, extensive streets & fortifications. Take your time exploring this extensive site before continuing towards the Mani Peninsula.

Famous for its tower houses built to protect the local population from the piracy & dangerous times during medieval life up to the nineteenth century, its inhabitants are also the descendants of the Ancient Spartans & this combination of geography & hardy people kept the region independent to develop its own character from the rest of Greece and our tour chooses several of the most beautiful routes of the peninsula stopping as appropriate at some of the distinct villages & beauty spots along the way before a comfortable nights stay in one of the other villages of the Peninsula.

Day 3: EXPLORING THE MANI PENINSULA

Caves of Diros

Today we continue our tour dedicated to the Mani Peninsula touring the main routes and stopping at the main sites & beauty spots. We can include the Caves of Diros where you can take a boat ride through its many chambers to emerge finally at the sea where your diver will be waiting for you to continue.

Finally after enjoying the routes & sites of Mani we come to its Capital Cardamili where you can spend time to shop for a souvenir & have lunch or a drink by the sea before your return.
